187 Repairs in Shafter

Guess what? Was on Amtrak heading to Fresno the other day. And a water tankers 18 wheeler decided to beat the train light. We hit the back, tore off the semi's wheels, tore off a couple train wheels, some went flying like kites, the truck bed rolled, the locomotive head was crinkled & a hole was carved into the side of the steel, we went flyin' a bit & the train jumped the rails for quite a distance. Everyone ok, some hauled by ambulance. Good thing -- in the middle of nowhere - we landed a few feet away from the Shafter Medical Clinic. People sat under trees, got free waters, exams, chips & muffins. We talked, traded stories and laughed. And told stories again. 12 hrs to get home that day. Missed my reading in SF too. What amazed me was that life was granted to us. And I am thankful to the universe. For all of us. I loved the fact that we created friendship, melted things down for ourselves, got human. Good to see, to feel, to be. The train continues under the sun.
